Prior to entering the practice of law, Tom worked as an English consultant for the Japanese Ministry of Education in Japan, as a purchasing manager for an international food company in Philadelphia, PA, and as a manager in the Copper Trading Department of Mitsubishi International Corporation in New York, NY. Having worked outside the practice of law for a number of years in these diverse areas helps bring perspective and understanding to his clients’ needs.
Tom has practiced law for over 24 years and frequently appears in Federal and State Courts, including the Commercial Division. Tom was previously an attorney at Boies, Schiller & Flexner, LLP before joining Hacker Murphy, LLP.
- Successfully obtaining dismissal of a lawsuit brought against the Town of Clifton Park through New York’s Child Victims Act (CVA)
- Obtaining several millions of dollars on behalf of several group self-insured workers’ compensation trusts against former members for their failure to pay deficit assessments
- Establishing liability against a property maintenance business on behalf of a slip and fall victim in an appeal addressing exception to the storm in progress doctrine
- Defending various municipalities and their employees – including law enforcement officials
- Defending corporations, officers, and directors against claims by former employees and/or members
- Representing DuPont while under investigation by the Department of Justice
- Representing Yankee Entertainment & Sports Network (“YES”) in a carriage dispute with multiple cable distributors
- Assisted in internal investigations involving Adelphia Communications, Tyco, and Qwest together with defending said entities during governmental investigations
- Engaged in a class-action antitrust lawsuit against graphic chip manufacturers Nvidia and AMD
- Representing multiple plaintiffs in various product liability actions
- Defending a commercial tenant facing eviction and obtaining a Yellowstone Injunction
- Representing individuals who have been denied long-term insurance coverage by their carrier in ERISA lawsuits
